Motorcycle Transport – Safe and Proper Handling in Turkey

Motorcycles cannot be moved like household items. Because of their weight distribution and sensitive bodywork, improper loading can easily cause damage. When organising long-distance motorcycle transport in Turkey, correct packaging, strapping and insurance are critical.

Which Vehicle Should Be Used?

• Enclosed vehicles protect the bike from rain, stones and dirt.
• A lift or loading ramp makes loading safer and faster.
• The floor should be non-slip and equipped with proper lashing points.

Strapping and Protection

• Use soft loops around the handlebar and frame to avoid scratching painted parts.
• Straps should compress the suspension slightly but not fully bottom it out.
• The side stand should not be left taking all the weight; use the centre stand where possible.
• Mirrors, screens and panniers should be removed or additionally protected against impact.

Insurance and Delivery

• Take photos of the motorcycle before loading to record its condition.
• Make sure the carrier loads the bike under a valid CMR / cargo insurance policy.
• At delivery, check for any scratches or damage, note them in a report and follow up within the insurer’s time limits.
